Pope Francis Warns Large Hadron Collider Could ‘Open Gates of Hell’

Pope Francis pleaded the scientific community to halt operations on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) this morning in an official Vatican release as scientists at the Large Hadron Collider next week are hoping to experiment with a possible connection with a parallel universe outside of our own.

The Pope’s criticism comes days after scientists at the CERN centre in Geneva, Switzerland, revealed this week plans to fire up the LHC ‘atom smasher’ to its highest energy levels ever in a bid to detect – or even create – miniature black holes and possibly “create an opening in the space-time fabric”.

Another skeptic of the project is none other than respected physicist Stephen Hawking who has recently warned the end of the world could be sparked by the elusive ‘God particle’.

Pope Francis warned the scientific community of “testing God’s limits” after the announcement of the reopening of the LHC, which has been undergoing massive repairs and been shut down for the past two years

The Pope appeared visibly distraught as he addressed the crowd of tens of thousands of followers present at St-Peter’s square for the occasion for one of his longest speeches to date.

“My fellow Christians, we are living in desperate times,” he told the crowd.

“Science is about to test the limits of God and his creation. God has created boundaries between the world of the living and the world of the dead. Are these scientists about to unleash upon us the Gates of Hell?” he asked his followers, visibly shaken.

“Are these the days of darkness spoken of in the Bible? Are the hordes of demons lurking in the fiery pits of Hell about to be thrust upon the world? These are questions we must ponder before allowing scientists to proceed to such experiments” he concluded.

Last October, over 400 top physicists signed a petition warning that the Higgs potential might become unstable at energies above 100bn giga-electron-volts (GeV) and asking governments to keep experiments under these levels.

  1. “My fellow Christians, we are living in desperate times” Aaaaand, when have we ever been NOT living in desperate times?

“Are these scientists about to unleash upon us the Gates of Hell?” OK. This guy has clearly lost it. It’s sad that over a billion people look to him for guidance.

I think the physicists have legitimate concerns, but this “Hell” connection is ridiculous!

    • In case you dont know (and obviously you dont), there is only quantics because there was a catholic church with its dogmas.. the foundation of quantics was only possible because there was the christologic dogma about the dual nature of Christ: a human nature and a divine nature, both together but not the same and both distinct but not separated.. its not explainable with plain reason and / or empirism.. the same goes with the light, showing sometimes like a wave and at other times like a corpuscule (I dont know if this is how its called in english). To understand the this antinomy, the human mind needs a mental transfiguration to what its called hilbert space.. men could figure the need of this process to finally understand it and start evolving quantic studies because they were already used to the transfiguration to a divine space to understand the christologic dogma… btw.. if you want to understand more about it, read Lucian Blaga or H. P. Patapievici.

PS: when the Pope use the term “gates of hell” he is not using it literally, but in the same sense other scientists use, to warn about the material dangers of this kind of experiment.. just remember that a Pope is man with great amount of study in several subjects and great erudition, much more than any of your pop scientists and, of course, much more than a guy who cant understand a simple figure of speech.

  2. God does not compete with science. Whatever happens God is in controle.

  3. Firstly, if your God is so in control, the LHC will not open the gates of hell

Secondly, there are legitimate concern of whether the LHC will caused damage to the physical world by a fire or even screwing up the higgs field, but he’ll is not on the list

  4. Bring it on! Nothing would be better for the Universe than the human race, being 98.6% chimpanzee, be totally and utterly destroyed. Only then will be there peace…

  5. Slow day for Anti Crist
