Newly-Found Document Holds Eyewitness Account of Jesus Performing Miracle

Rome | An Italian expert studying a first-century document written by the Roman historian Marcus Velleius Paterculus that was recently discovered in the archives of the Vatican found what is presumed to be the first eyewitness account ever recorded of a miracle of Jesus Christ.

The author describes a scene that he allegedly witnessed, in which a prophet and teacher that he names Iēsous de Nazarenus, resuscitated a stillborn boy and handed him back to his mother.

Historian and archivist Ignazio Perrucci, was hired by the Vatican authorities in 2012, to sort, analyze and classify some 6,000 ancient documents that had been uncovered in the gigantic archive vaults.

Perrucci was already very excited when he noticed that the author of the text was the famous Roman historian Velleius, but he was completely stunned when he realized the nature of the content.

Professor Ignazio Perrucci found the text in the archives of the Vatican, while searching among a bundle of personnal letters and other trivial documents dating from the Roman era.

Professor Perrucci found the text in the archives of the Vatican while searching amongst a bundle of personal letters and other trivial documents dating from the Roman era.

The text as a whole is a narrative of the author’s return journey from Parthia to Rome that occurred in 31 AD, recorded in a highly rhetorical style of four sheets of parchment.

Velleius describes many different episodes taking place during his trip, like a violent sandstorm in Mesopotamia and visit to a temple in Melitta (modern-day Mdina, in Malta).

The part of the text that really caught M. Perrucci’s attention is an episode taking place in the city of Sebaste (near modern-day Nablus, in the West Bank).

The author first describes the arrival of a great leader in the town with a group of disciples and followers, causing many of the lower class people from neighboring villages to gather around them.

According to Velleius, that great man’s name was Iēsous de Nazarenus, a Greco-Latin translation of Jesus’ Hebrew name, Yeshua Notzri.

Upon entering the town, Jesus would have visited the house of a woman named Elisheba, who had just given birth to a stillborn child.

Jesus picked up the dead child and uttered a prayer in Aramaic to the heavens, which unfortunately the author describes as immensus, meaning incomprehensible.

To the crowd’s surprise and amazement,  the baby came back to life almost immediately, crying and squirming like a healthy newborn.

Marcus Velleius Paterculus being a Roman officer of Campanian origins, he seems to perceive Jesus Christ as a great doctor and mystic, without associating him in any way to the Jewish concept of Messiah.

Many tests and analysis have been realized over the last weeks to determine the authenticity of the manuscript.

The composition of the parchment and ink, the literary style and handwriting have all been carefully scrutinized and were considered to be entirely legitimate.

The dating analysis also revealed that the sheepskin parchment on which the text is written does indeed date from the 1st century of this era, more precisely from between 20-45 AD.

This new text from an author known for his reliability brings a brand new perspective on the life of the historical character that is Jesus of Nazareth.

It comes to confirm the Gospels on the facts that he was known for accomplishing miracles and that his sheer presence in a town was enough to attract crowds of people.

A complete and official translation of the document should be made available online in many different languages over the next few weeks, but the impact of the discovery is already felt in the scientific community.

Many scholars have already saluted the finding as one of the greatest breakthrough ever realized in the study of the historical life of Jesus, while others have expressed doubts about the conclusions of Professor Perrucci and demand for more tests to be performed by other scientific institutions before drawing any conclusions.

To the contrary to the life and times of Jesus, there is NO historical evidence that Muhammad ever existed. Nothing surfaces until some 60 or more years later. Hmmmm. Think about it.

Brother, Muhammed PBUH was born 200-300 years after Jesus PBUH died. And what you should think about is this : “The author describes a scene that he allegedly witnessed, in which a prophet and teacher that he names Iēsous de Nazarenus, resuscitated a stillborn boy and handed him back to his mother” he said prohpet and teacher not god or son of god.

    • Yes, people who don’t understand God, like the pagan M. V. Paterculus, would need to see Jesus PCFH(peace comes from Him) as less than God or the Son of God. They won’t submit to God’s will of taking on a human body and dwelling among us. Muhammad was born in 570 and never claimed anything greater than Jesus PCFH did, thus if he were a prophet of God, he would be a lesser prophet.

    • Jesus Christ was and IS the Son Of the one and only God. period.

    • Your dates are off with Muhammed PBUH, born in Mecca 570AD and died in Medina in 632AD…the Romans were familiar with many prophets, teachers, and miracle workers throughout the empire. However, “Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.” Matthew 27:54

    • mohammed bantalal. When this was supposedly written, the Good News of Jesus being the Son of God was not widely known. It would be unlikely that an outsider first witnessing Jesus and his miraculous healing power would have known all the facts about him.

  2. The Gospels tell of the Disciples saying Jesus performed many more miracles too many to mention.

The gospels also say a lot of things that could not have possibly happened as they were written. They list dates and rulers that conflict with each other. If this was “inspired” by your god, he is a very bad communicator.

    • Dr. Kenneth Adair | October 7, 2014 at 7:33 pm |

Please, Smarter than “Dr. Paul,” Do not speak in generalities. Offer proofs of your supposed errancies in the New Testament. What “dates and rulers…conflict with each other.”? I anxiously await your proofs, even though I know that you have none.

    • Yes Smarter than Dr. Paul yours is a cliched argument that is never backed up with specific facts. Please bring forth your evidence of errors in the Bible and let them be analysed.

    • Jesus continues to save lives and love you and me….

    • Dave Mustaine | October 8, 2014 at 5:25 pm |

Why is it that some Christians are either unable or unwilling to use search engines. For “list of new testament contradictions” there are 31 million results on bing and 314,000 on google. But yeah nobody’s backing up their arguments at all.

    • Ok…curious of one of those ” things” you are claiming. I will bet you have nothing!

    • Kevin Petersen | October 10, 2014 at 2:49 am |

If we were basing our arguments solely on the number of hits on google search “proof god exists.” you get 2.179 million hits.

    • Many people smarter than us have searched with the intent of showing inconsistencies in the Bible, all I repeat all have been unsuccessful. A great many non-Christians with the only goal in their life to disprove Christianity have become Christians. It is ok not to understand Christianity because you won’t understand it until you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior. At first you will be fed milk and as your knowledge increases so will your understanding. Just to throw unfounded and and quite frankly ignorant comments on a relatively anonymous forum is cowardly and antagonistic. I would welcome the chance to debate you on any aspect of Christianity. I consider myself a decent Apologetic and would love to hone my God given Evangelistic skills.

    • Sadly, Smarter than “Dr Paul”, you are just ignorant. Some say “ignorance is bliss”…not the kind of bliss I want.

  3. Wow! What an incredible find! I knew the Gospels told the truth!

    • ER NO It DOESN’T prove anything about the Gospels at all. We’ve already presumed Jesus existed but getting reliable evidence at what He DID is another matter entirely.

    • Any intelligent agnostic has to admit that the historical records proving the existence of a man now known as Jesus are overwhelming. They also strongly show that has was doing crowd inspiring things. Even the muslims refer to him as the magician in the Koran. This is another piece of evidence that backs up everything else we know about JC as ‘fact’ – He existed and did jaw dropping things.

    • To Dr. Paul
Jesus still exists and is still doing great and wonderful miracles.

    • If Jesus were to appear right before your very eyes Nick…you would just give Jesus the finger..

    • Yes, Nick, and it seems we, again, have been given additional reliable evidence. So Nick, what is your point?

    • Belva McKann | October 11, 2014 at 5:26 am |

Phil B., you should be thrown off this forum for your filthy accusation to someone you happen to disagree with. You are most un-Christlike and have no business even mentioning his name.

I’m an agnostic, and research into the historical proof of Jesus’ existence is hazy at best. I also find it strange that atheists and agnostics demand proof of a divine presence, and are given no empirical evidence. Rather, it is upon them to “let god into their hearts” or “have faith.” Then below, we see an atheist make a wild claim, and suddenly the christian is demanding proof from them. It’s a never ending debate. This manuscript is compelling evidence for sure, but proves nothing.

  4. OMG! What a lucky man… he had the chance to see Jesus

    • Scott Wasmer | October 7, 2014 at 7:53 am |

We can all see Jesus. Have you never seen Him?

    • You have never seen Jesus. Maybe you’ve seen a guy named Jesus in East LA but you’ve never seen JESUS. Your delusion is astounding.

    • Adri van Staden | October 17, 2014 at 5:13 am |

Samy, why do you swear like that? Don’t use God’s Name like that!

    • All I read was OMG!! That could stand for Oh My Goodness. Don’t jump to conclusions.

    • Br.Abey George | November 6, 2015 at 1:30 am |

Praise the Lord. I am sure more and more revelations will come till the last days to improve our faith. Just like Tracy, many are criticising our sweet living God. We cannot blame her. She is not tasted our Lord. I am a person who is seeing his miracles and hearing His messages for my ministry and living for the last 24 years. Praise be to the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and God. God bless you all

  5. A great story!

    • Louise Bradley | October 6, 2014 at 8:04 am |

Well done Professor Perrucci. You’re doing some wonderful research

    • OLButcher... | October 6, 2014 at 10:59 pm |

If people stay excited about the word as much as area51 we will be ok…..

    • John stated that if all the accomplishments of our lord were written down then all the libraries in the world could not contain them. Praise be his name and glory.

    • lindascharff | October 8, 2014 at 3:39 pm |

Yes, indeed, a PRESENT from the past!

    • Zeb Igeleke | October 8, 2014 at 8:50 pm |

Praise be to God for this latest discovery.

    • The document says that Jesus uttered something “incomprehensible” to the eyewitness. Umm..wonder if Jesus was speaking in Tongues.

    • I find it sad that instead of being awed at a new text which describes the one we know as Jesus.People go right back to fighting about religion.. Jesus was/is
not a religion. If we dont know that, then we dont know who He is at all…

    • Patricia Matheny | October 11, 2014 at 4:13 pm |

thank-you for sharing this wonderful experience ……I just can’t imagine how excited you must have been .

    • I can almost see him bring that baby to life. Praise his Holy Name!!!!!

    • We needed this. Unfortunately our main stream media will probably never report it, and if they do, it will not be for the glory that should be given.

    • Rabbi Ian Michaels | October 19, 2014 at 8:45 pm |

This is an awesome discovery, and it is a miracle not once recorded by any of the Brit Chadasha/New Testament writers. Baruch HaShem!

    • Joe T. Massey | October 20, 2014 at 2:27 pm |

John 21:25 Now there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which if they should be written every one, I suppose the world could not contain the books that should be written, Amen.

    • honestly… i don’t know what to belive. i doubt everything bible. One thing i recognize is that all life is related. we all need water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, etc…. to live. something created us equally in our our rights

    • Stephen Holmstock | October 27, 2014 at 5:07 pm |

Our God is an awesome God! He is life!

    • All I need is what is written in the Bible and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit

    • Sandra Farrell | November 10, 2014 at 10:30 am |

God’s timing is perfect! Isaiah 45:23 we are fortunate to be living in this time. Jesus is alive and active!! Praise the Lord!

    • Wow, I know there are lots of writings that have never been discovered yet. You said it would be online? where can it be found! Wonderful work. Keep digging.
      God bless you work.

    • Tell me Jesus freaks if god and jesus are the creators and gods of this planet why do all of your so called gods exist only in the past, why don’t we see them now. you know of course there are hundreds of gods and none exist today walking down main street. But there plenty with there hands out wanting cash for god and bow to his rules and that makes no sense to you people does it. Its called a symptom of control. nothing more, nothing less, good sheep wanting to live forever.

    • To Tracy,

Your post comes off angry and shrill. I don’t know what a religious person once did to you that has resulted in such invective against anyone of faith. As an agnostic, I too am not a person of deep religious faith, but it takes nothing from me that someone else is.

      Good day to you.

    • Another step nearer the light.

    • We’ve always had our Bible. Even without the Bible there will always be proof that Jesus was here with us and he performed miracles

    • Would have been considerably more impressive had the Baby been dead a few hours, and then brought back to life. Or a few days, or a few weeks. Death was often mis-diagnosed in ancient times.

    • James Wilson | November 4, 2015 at 4:43 am |

An astonishing find. Of course there will always be doubters, but the findings so far collaborate it.

    • wonderful wonderful.

    • I personally feel that we as HIS children, do not need any discoveries or findings or proofs of what JESUS did when HE came as Son of Man 2000 years ago. The very work of Salvation that HE performed in our lives is a certain proof, because that is the greatest miracle!! Second, if anyone says ‘you may not need it, but it is for those who do not know HIM’, my answer is: if anyone has to be saved, he/she must be drawn by GOD HIMSELF, as said in Jn6:44!Unless their hearts are broken and burnt, any such findings will have NO EFFECT ON THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE. Prompting of the HOLY SPIRIT matters all. Amen in JESUS’ Name.
