Dubai: Crown Prince to Marry Former Street Girl

hamdan

Dubai| 28-year-old Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the crown prince of Dubai, announced this morning his engagement to Kalila Said, a Palestinian refugee who grew up in the streets of a shantytown near the Arab metropolis. The second-oldest son of ruler Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met the 23-year old woman while working on a charity project in March of last year in one of the capital’s disadvantaged neighbourhoods and the two have rapidly developed a symbiotic relationship.

Sheikh Hamdan’s love life has been the object of much speculation over the years . He remained in a monogamous and serious relationship with one of his half-cousins from 2008 to 2013, despite the fact that he was engaged to his cousin Sheikha Sheikha Al Maktoum. This relationship ended sourly however in January 2013, just a few months before the Prince met his new love. His arranged marriage has also recently been cancelled for reasons that were not made public.

This charming Prince was a well known “lady’s prize” for a long time. He not only writes poetry, but he is also passionate about horses. Affectionately known as Fazza, meaning “the courageous,” the name under which he publishes his poetry, he is known for his strong penchant for fast cars and skydiving. He is a graduate from the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy and also attended the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prince Hamdan even won a team gold medal at the 15th Asian Games in 2006 in a horseback riding competition. He also owns an incredible collections of camels, and he once paid US$4.5 million for 16 beautiful specimens at a camel beauty pageant in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. Handsome, brave and exotic: what more could a girl ask for?

Well despite Hamdan’s status and good looks, he had to court the young woman with insistence for over three months before she accepted to start seeing him. The recipient of a Royal scholarship for exceptional merit and psychology graduate from the American Universtiy of Dubai did however end up succumbing to the Prince’s charm and the two rapidly became almost inseparable.

According to rumors circulating in the country, Hamdan’s father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, threatened last November to disinherit his son if he pursued the relationship, but to no avail. The young man chose love over his title and situation, bringing his father to reconsider his position. The Sheikh finally seems to have accepted the situation and even gave his blessing to the new couple.

  2. congratulation i’m so happy for both of them , it sounds true love . well done shiek Hamdan , and shame on this newspaper who call the girl a street girl , basically you are calling more than 6 millions Palestinians street people which is not their choice or their fault that most of the world supporting Israel in one way or another

  3. This headline is very ambiguous – in some cultures here in SA (and I would think internationally, no?) a street girl is a prostitute. It could so easily be misconstrued

    • Wow Wendy, what a mind you got, you are so smart asshole honestly lots of people living on the street, but they are not prostitute, it just that they are homeless. And there are girls living in a fancy house, fancy diamonds, a fancy car, a millions of money in the Bank acct, but behind that money is coming from their pussy did you ever think of that?… can you think first before you give a comment? such a brainless!!!

    • Mhay, you are a bit aggressive, Wendy meant no harm, she simply made a comment about the headline. She is right incidentally, ‘street girl’ is a term used for prostitutes. When I saw the headline I also initially thought that he was marrying a lady of the night. Clearly he is not, so it was an unfortunate term to use.

  8. Im a filipino and not a muslim nor a christian.for me i guess its only about of love and between the two of them…who cares if she is a muslim or not or if she cover herself or not who cares…its about the two of them..no one can control of their affection to each other..have you not read the article that he was being threatened by his father to be disinherit if he will pursue his love but love really a mysterious thing to say…he chooses love betwen things that his family have…using a word former sreet girl is not a crime or a way of disrespecting woman,i guess the intention of the writer of this article is to let the world knows that maybe yesterday you are this kind of a woman but no nobdy else have the idea what tomorrow dan bring..as long as we are humble to ourselves,we love to be human and we respect human as our replicas to ourselves then maybe the beggar on the street will be a king or a queen,a president or a ruler one day on his life..who knows….i personally admire the crown prince of dubai for his poetry..i love all his writings that ive read..so strong that can makes you move where ever you are…i wish an everlasting happiness for this two young and beautiful couple to be..your love story make me like a zombie to write this under the spell of romeo…where is my juliet?
